Diamond Certificates

A certificate is a "blueprint" of a diamond, it tells you the diamond's exact measurements and weight, as well as the details of its cut and quality. It precisely points out all the individual characteristics of the stone. Certificates also serve as proof of the diamond's identity and value.

A certificate is not the same thing as an appraisal. A certificate describes the quality of a diamond, but it does not place a monetary value on the gem. An appraisal places a monetary value on your diamond, but does not certify the quality of the diamond.

Why Do I Need a Certificate?

Shopping for certified diamonds allows you to make an informed choice about your selections, and to comparison shop. You can compare one diamond of a particular weight and quality with other diamonds of similar weight and quality to determine which you prefer.

If a jeweller offers to sell you an expensive diamond ring without a certificate, keep in mind that it means you are buying the diamond based only on the salesperson's claim about its quality, and that a trained gemologist may disagree with the salesperson's assessment.

Independent Diamond Certification

Any of our diamonds over .40 carat is accompanied by one of these internationally recognised diamond certificates below, GIA, HRD or IGI which proves the authentication of each diamond.

GIA Certification

GIA

Gemological Institute of America

An independent, nonprofit organization that is renowned for its impartial service as the world's foremost authority in gemology: it offers gemstone identification and buying advice to consumers.

The Institute's history of ground-breaking scientific research, education, and gemological laboratory services reads as a virtual chronicle of the industry's own growth and sophistication.

The GIA has combined the principles of research, education, and service to help gem and jewelry professionals around the globe use science and product knowledge to sustain the public's trust.

HRD Antwerp

HRD

The coordinating body and official representative of the diamond sector based in Antwerp.

It is an official organization, recognized internationally and acting as host, spokesperson and intermediary for the Belgian diamond community.

The HRD wants to further develop Antwerp as a world diamond centre in order to optimize knowledge in and about the diamond sector.

IGI International Gemological Institute Diamond Certificate

IGI

International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of the world's largest independent gem certification and appraisal institutes, with laboratories in Antwerp, New York, and Bangkok.

IGI serves jewelers, retail stores, insurance companies, Internet sales organizations, catalog companies, accounting and securities firms and consumers worldwide.

With a professional staff of 200, IGI issues more than 200,000 reports a year.
